WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A federal court in Oklahoma has blocked the national “do not call” list that would allow consumers to stop most unwanted telephone sales calls, one week before it was due to take effect. The U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City said the Federal Trade Commission overstepped its authority when it set up the popular anti-telemarketing measure, according to a court decision filed late on Tuesday. The FTC has signed up some 50 million phone numbers for the list, which was due to take effect on Oct. 1.

Looks like the Homeland Security at the Port of Los Angeles graciously allowed a tracked undercover shipment of depleted Uranium (slightly easier to obtain, but similar in radioactive signature) to slip into the United States without any questions, or inspectors interference. The Uranium was shielded by a steel pipe with a lead lining, 15 pounds of depleted uranium was packed in a suitcase that sailed through customs. A giant asteroid is headed towards earth and could hit on March 21, 2014. But Britney and Madonna kissed! With tongue! Yes, my friends, they did. And it was awesome. No one is questioning that fact. But it’s getting a lot more news coverage than the fact that A GIANT ASTEROID IS HEADED TOWARDS EARTH AND COULD HIT ON MARCH 21, 2014! Not as awesome. I know. Said asteroid, known by the adorable nickname “2003QQ47″ could have the impact of “20 million Hiroshima atomic bombs” should it hit the earth. Clearly, this would be an extinction-level event. On the bright side, scientists say that the chances of collision are one in 909,000. Scientists (and me) hope that the “gravitational influence of giant planets such as jupiter,” which is most likely responsible for pulling the asteroid out of the asteroid belt and towards earth, will push the asteroid out of its collision course with earth as well.
